CiCi’s Chinese Mantou Burger Recipe

Why mantous again? Because my mom bought way too much, and we really can’t finish them, so I’m trying new ways to entertain everyone.

In this Chinese Burger, the ingredients are mostly Chinese but the way of serving and its look are American. It somehow tastes like Chinese Baozi and American burger, but still not really. So… try it yourself! Hahah… It’s so fun to cook!!! :D

Ingredients for 4 people:
4 Mantous
¼ lbs Minced pork (you can substitute with beef or chicken)
¼ Red bell pepper
¼ Green bell pepper
5 Eggs
1 Scallion
A little bit of Ginger
1 table spoon of corn starch
3 table spoons of soy sauce
3 table spoons of sesame oil
1 tea spoon of salt
½ tea spoon of white pepper
Oil spray


First, mince all the ingredients into tiny pieces – red bell pepper, green bell pepper, scallion, and ginger. Crack an egg and stir it till blended. Mix corn starch with half a cup of water.

Second, add the above in minced pork – minced red bell pepper, green bell pepper, scallion, ginger, mixed egg, and corn starch water. Also add all the seasonings – soy sauce, sesame oil, salt, white pepper in with the ingredients. Mix them together.

Third, heat the pan and coat it with oil spray. Add the meat into the pan with big cooking spoon. Wait couple minutes for the meat to cook half way. Then flip to the other side. After it turns golden brown, take the burger meats onto a clean plate.

Forth, coat the pan with oil spray again. Crack eggs on to it one by one, sunny side up. Cook them till 70% percent cooked. Take them on to a plate.

Fifth, slice mantous into half. Coat the pan with oil spray. Slightly heat them up, both sides.

Lastly, now you have everything! Simply add meat and egg on top of mantou. Eat it like burger!!
